Staying Active for Life

Active Health Scheme

​

The Active Health Scheme is an accessible service for adults who would benefit from a structured physical activity programme in a safe, supervised environment. Classes are based at local Brimham’s Active centres in Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon.

Swim England, Parkinsons’s UK and the MS Society have together produced a new resource with advice and tips on being active in the water for people with these long term conditions.

Open Country

Open country is a local charity organisation which aims to help people with disabilities access and enjoy the countryside.

Dancing for wellbeing

Dance classes for those who can dance in sitting or standing.

Beach Access

Charity organisation which details accessible beaches and car parking in the North East. Provide free loan of specialist equipment at beaches within the region to help promote social inclusion and independence for people with disabilities.

Group Yoga Class

Parkinsons

​The Harrogate Branch of Parkinson’s UK have set up run several exercise classes specific for people living with Parkinson’s Disease, classes are run in Harrogate and Ripon.

Parkinsons UK have an online Physical activity YouTube playlist with a wide range of workout videos designed for people living with Parkinson’s Disease.

Multiple Sclerosis

The MS Trust have produced a number of pre-recorded exercise videos. Click the links to access these online videos:
